Where
everything
began
I am Leonardo Frigo, a London-based Italian artist and globe-maker.
My journey began in Venice, where I mastered the craft of restoration to uncover lost artistic legacies. Surrounded by extraordinary works of art throughout my career, my vision has been profoundly shaped by history. Today, this deep connection drives me to reinterpret ancient techniques, breathing new life into them through my work.
Our Story
The inspiration to explore the art of globe-making first dawned on me when I came across an original 1693 tome, authored by the legendary Venetian cosmographer and globe-maker Vincenzo Coronelli. This fortuitous discovery marked the beginning of a passionate quest to unearth this ancient craft. My goal remains the same: to revive this tradition, merging it with a contemporary artistic vision.
Violins Collection
My first project was an ambitious attempt to combine music, poetry, art and craftsmanship. Over the course of five years, I meticulously hand-painted 34 violins, each depicting a canto from Dante Alighieri's Inferno, part of the legendary Divina Commedia. Each unique piece in this collection tells its own distinct story, drawing inspiration from this masterpiece of Italian literature.
