Returning for its fifth edition, Vogue World Milan 2026 marks a significant milestone across the massive empires of fashion, culture, and entertainment.

Following previous editions in New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles, the event arrives in Milan on Tuesday, September 22, coinciding with the opening of the highly anticipated and acclaimed Milan Fashion Week.

It’s no coincidence that the two events take centre stage simultaneously: the city of Milan is, after all, the premier destination for Italian craftsmanship, and alongside elegance, design, and luxury, it stands as a pillar of culture.

Announced in late 2025, this Milan-focused edition serves as a tribute to Italy's historic artisanal tradition and its enduring impact over time.

What is Vogue World?

Vogue World is renowned for its ability to transform a fashion show into an event where the runway blends music, dance, theatrical performance, and storytelling.

All of this aims to create an immersive experience for a vast and diverse audience. The resulting experience is a true reflection of the host city, revealing a hidden identity that remains deeply rooted in the country's artistic heritage.

This edition is structured into thematic acts that explore the relationship between tradition and innovation, a presentation where contemporary debates regarding technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and the future of creativity resonate with an increasingly digital society.

Why Is Craftsmanship the Heart of This Edition?

Italy’s reputation for craftsmanship is renowned worldwide. Rooted in centuries of mastery, it has always been distinguished by its excellence and high quality; it needs no advertising, having risen on its own merits by sharing its artistic know-how with the world.

From ancient vases and lavish Renaissance ornaments, to modern industrial textiles, Italian artisans have helped shape the international aesthetic. Meticulous precision and the authenticity of materials have long been recognised and celebrated as a form of extraordinary beauty.

Vogue World Milan 2026 places this heritage centre stage, surrounding it with diverse creators, esteemed ateliers, and artists whose work continues to surprise and define the very meaning of artisanal ambition.

As the host, the Made in Italy naturally showcases a philosophy where beauty and functionality coexist: a union made possible only by the human touch.

The craftsmanship demonstrated by both established and emerging artists proves that excellence is achieved solely through hard work and experience honed over time.

As the saying goes, "to each their own"; whether in tailoring, jewellery, or captivating objects, Italian craftsmanship perfectly illustrates the effort to blend tradition with innovation, the ancient with the contemporary.

As Francesca Ragazzi, Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Italia, has said, “craftsmanship takes on special significance in the age of artificial intelligence”, making it all the more necessary to respect and honour it.

Human Touch as Cultural Heritage

In an era of ever-expanding automation, where technology permeates even the most trivial aspects of our daily lives, handmade craft stands as its own guardian.

The artists’ sole act of creating something using their own knowledge and hands is irreplaceable; indeed, it has become a hallmark of distinction.

Imperfections, once viewed negatively by many, are now celebrated, as they signal a human desire to hold fast to one’s values.

The creative mind is capable of many things, yet it is undeniable that handmade objects, textiles, and other art forms require patience. The creative process is slow and deliberate, though technology, when used wisely, can certainly help enhance it.

This event is compelling because, while it celebrates the human hand, it also explores how we can coexist with the modern innovations humanity itself has developed.

This is precisely where we pause for reflection: Vogue World stimulates the imagination by tracing human history up to the present day. It refuses to stand still, acknowledging that the world is a product of its time.

In doing so, the event becomes a living museum of craftsmanship, fuelling innovation without diminishing the human element. Italian craftsmanship is traditionally rooted in this heritage, sparking fresh curiosity around this year’s featured guests.

Here, knowledge passed down through generations takes tangible form, showcasing an evolution that elevates these crafts to their highest potential.

Many of the country’s most prestigious trades, such as woodworking, metal engraving, cartography, tailoring, bookbinding, and mosaic art, are preserved and shared today through family traditions, historic workshops, and modern courses or apprenticeships.

Simply observing the evolution of education reveals how everything, ourselves included, grows and changes in a state of constant motion.

One of the qualities Italy offers is the ability to never lose sight of its roots: humility safeguards craftsmanship, placing fundamental importance on its culture.

Preserving traditional trades becomes an act of historical protection and conservation, crucial for maintaining heritage and staying true to oneself.

The Venue: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Vogue World Milan 2026 will take place in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a venue that needs little introduction given its status as a symbolic landmark of the city itself.

Announced on February 24, 2026, at a press conference in Palazzo Marino, this historic glass-roofed arcade stands majestically between the legendary Teatro alla Scala and the beloved Duomo, forming the architectural heart of Milan.

Built in the 19th century, the structure is one of Europe’s oldest shopping arcades, iconic in every respect for its extraordinary architectural beauty.

It was undoubtedly chosen for its reputation as a hub of luxury and commerce, home to refined boutiques and grand cafés set amidst mosaics that reflect Italy’s rich artistic heritage.

Its imposing glass dome, intricate detailing, and vast scale make it a natural stage for celebrating the incredible history of Italian craftsmanship.

Even Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editorial director, has described Milan as one of Europe’s great capitals of craftsmanship: a place where tradition and modernity converge, and the Galleria perfectly embodies this union.

Vogue thus reaffirms the idea that fashion is inseparable from architecture, history, and urban identity, as well as from all other forms of art.

Who Is Participating?

It’s certainly worth finding out who will be taking part in the event, as among the many faces involved are those who played a pivotal role in bringing this day to life.

Official sources confirm the presence of key creative leaders, producers, and collaborators. However, Vogue notes that certain guests and show segments will remain under wraps until the event itself to preserve the element of surprise.

Anna Wintour will oversee the event alongside Francesca Ragazzi. Creative direction has been entrusted to Juan Costa Paz of Convoy Studio (Paris), while Lady Amanda Harlech is shaping the fashion vision.

Peter Aluuan serves as styling director, and Luca Galasso is managing fashion direction for the guest artists and the wider cast.

Movement and performance will take centre stage, so the choreography has been entrusted to Charm La’Donna with Stephen Galloway directing movement, while the show’s curatorial concept is the work of Judith Clark, a professor of fashion and museology at the University of the Arts London.

The production team includes Jen Green of “Genevieve Productions”, Marie Julie Craeymeersch of “Mode and the Moon”, and Marco Balich of “Balich Wonder Studios”, with Without Production handling backstage operations.

Beauty direction is led by Pat McGrath Labs, with Dame Pat McGrath overseeing make-up design; Cyndia Harvey is handling hair styling, and Eri Narita is in charge of nail art.

Musical direction is managed by Ivan Striga, assisted by Gaspard Murphy and Thomas Roussel in creating the soundscape.

Lighting design is by Ignace D’Haese of ARF&YES, while livestream direction is handled by Becky Garner for the US edition of Vogue and Tara Homeri for Vogue Scandinavia.

Vogue has also confirmed eBay as the official partner for vintage and pre-owned fashion, continuing to highlight heritage and sustainability, themes of great importance in this context.

Key sponsors also include ALO, Lilly, and Meta Glasses, with additional support from FedEx and other local partners.
