The world upon a sphere
A terrestrial globe transforms a map into an object that can be turned, explored and lived with. Continents, oceans, cities and geographical details follow the curve of the sphere, revealing the world not as a flat image, but as a continuous surface. Each globe brings together cartography and illustration, balancing geographical detail with the character of a hand-drawn map.
The tradition of the globe maker
For centuries, globes were objects of knowledge, discovery and craftsmanship. Terrestrial globes often stood alongside their celestial counterparts in libraries and collections, placing Earth and the heavens side by side. My work continues this tradition through historic globe-making techniques while allowing each piece to belong unmistakably to the present.
A globe of your own
Each terrestrial globe is made individually, with its cartography, palette and personal details developed through conversation with its future owner. The making brings together drawing, copper-plate etching, hand printing and watercolour, before the printed sections are carefully laid onto the sphere and completed by hand. Globes are available in 35 cm and 60 cm diameters, with the 108 cm scale forming part of the Monumental Globes collection.
